RALEIGH, NC - The CIAA honored Shaw's
Lauren Janok and
Noelani Beard on Tuesday for their play in last week's victories over Winston-Salem State and Fayetteville State. Janok was named CIAA Setter of the Week and Beard was selected CIAA Offensive Player of the Week.
Janok earned the honor for the third straight week. The Rougemont, NC, native finished with 32 assists in a four-set home win over WSSU and notched 45 assists in a five-set road thriller against Fayetteville State. A graduate student, Janok is the CIAA assist leader with a 9.85 average per set.
Beard is the CIAA's top offensive player for the second time this season. The Kaneohe, Hawaii, native recorded 13 kills and nine digs against the Rams and 12 kills and 15 digs in the big win over the Broncos. A graduate student, Beard ranks seventh in the CIAA in kills per set, ninth in points per set and fourth in hitting percentage.
