BOWIE, MD --The Shaw University volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 victory (25-13, 25-9, 25-9) over the Virginia Union Panthers Friday at AC Jordan Arena in the quarterfinals of the 2025 CIAA Volleyball Championship.
The win moved the Lady Bears' overall record to 13-10 on the season.
Sydni Hunter finished with nine kills on the day to lead the Bears attack while finishing with a hitting percentage of .667. Defensively, had two players reach double figures in digs as Kalia Morris had 14 and Makayla Brown had 12.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Lady Bears took control on the first point and never looked back to win the first set 25-13. Shaw led by 15 points at 19-4 before closing out the set.
SET 2 | Shaw won set two 25-9 to quickly take a 2-0 lead. The Lady Bears grabbed control of the set lead early on at 2-1 and never trailed. Shaw led by as many as 17 points at 24-7 before finishing off the set. The Shaw offense also got a boost from three aces in the stanza.
SET 3 | Shaw took set three to finish off the match. The Lady Bears took control of the set early when the score was 3-2 and never trailed to win 25-9. Shaw ended on a strong note, opening up its biggest lead of the stanza, 16 points, to close out the set. The Shaw offense also got a boost from seven aces in the stanza.
