BOWIE, MD --The Shaw volleyball team beat the Bowie State Bulldogs 3-2 (25-21, 9-25, 23-25, 25-17, 15-7) Saturday at home at AC Jordan Arena earning a spot in the 2025 CIAA Championship match.Â
The victory improved Shaw's overall record to 14-10 on the season.
Leana Gould finished with 14 kills on the day to lead the Bears attack while finishing with a hitting percentage of .344. Defensively, had two players reach double figures in digs as Kalia Morris had 13 and Kya Moore had 13.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Lady Bears opened up an early one set to none lead, winning the first set 25-21. Shaw grabbed the advantage for good at 12-11 in a set that showcased three lead changes before the Bears took over the lead.
SET 2 | Shaw lost the second set 25-9 to even the match 1-1. Shaw trailed by as many as 16 points as Bowie State grabbed the advantage for good at 3-2 in a set that was tied up two times before the Bulldogs took over the lead.
SET 3 | Shaw then lost their second set in a row, falling behind in the match two sets to one. The Lady Bears fought back from a nine-point deficit at 13-4, but Bowie State hung on to win the set 25-23.
SET 4 | Shaw broke their two set losing streak and forced a fifth set with a 25-17 victory in set number four. The Lady Bears took the lead for good at 9-8 in a set that showcased three lead changes before the Lady Bears took over the lead. Shaw also supplemented their offense with four aces in the set.
SET 5 | Shaw fought back from down 2-1 to take two straight sets, culminating in a 15-7 fifth-set victory, and lock down the 3-2 win. The Lady Bears scored first and never trailed in the fifth set to earn the victory. Shaw opened up as much as a nine point lead at 14-5 before closing out the set.
