Janok, Culp Earn CIAA Volleyball Player of the Week Honors

RALEIGH, NC - Lauren Janok of Shaw University won her second straight CIAA Volleyball Setter of the Week honor and Jasmine Culp of the Lady Bears was named CIAA Volleyball Rookie of the Week on Tuesday. Both players helped Shaw post a 4-2 record, including a 3-0 CIAA mark, this past week.

Janok, a graduate student from Rougemont, NC, amassed over 30 assists in each of the five matches she played during the week. She tallied 40 assists in a 3-0 victory over Claflin and 37 assists in a 3-1 win over Saint Augustine's. Janok leads the CIAA in total assists and assists per set (9.6).

Culp, a freshman libero from Clayton, NC, collected 20 digs in a 3-1 loss to Alaska Fairbanks and 19 digs in a 3-0 victory over Livingstone. She had eight or more digs in each of the six matches she played. Culp ranks second in the CIAA in digs per set.

This is Culp's second volleyball honor from the CIAA. In early September, she was named CIAA Defensive Player of the Week.

The league's volleyball head coaches and sports information directors nominate and vote on the CIAA Players of the Week.

The Lady Falcons are 10-4 overall and 3-0 in the CIAA. They host Winston-Salem State in a CIAA Southern Division match on Tuesday at historic C.C. Spaulding Gymnasium at 6 p.m.
