RALEIGH, N.C. — Shaw University Athletics announced Monday the elevation of
Antoine Lynch to Assistant Athletic Director for Media/Operations.
Lynch, who previously served as Director of Athletic Communications, moves into the new role after helping guide the department's communications, branding, digital media and game day operations efforts over the past five years.
"Antoine has continued to show his value to
Shaw University Athletics through his commitment, creativity and leadership," Interim Director of Athletics Dr. Randy McClure said. "He has played a major role in helping tell the stories of our student-athletes, coaches and programs while also assisting with the operations side of our department. This elevation is well deserved, and we are excited to see him continue to grow in this expanded role."
In his new position, Lynch will continue to oversee the promotion, media coverage and communications efforts for Shaw's 13 varsity sports while taking on additional responsibilities with athletics operations, event management, branding and external relations.
Since taking over the communications office, Lynch has helped promote five CIAA women's tennis championships, back-to-back CIAA volleyball championships, a USCAA volleyball national championship, women's soccer Independent and repeat USCAA national championships, along with four additional Bears programs that finished as conference runners-up.
Lynch also played a key role in branding and promoting Shaw's developmental men's basketball team, which was formed in 2021, while continuing to expand Shaw Athletics' digital presence through social media, video content, postgame interviews and the Shaw Bears Sports Network.
"I am extremely grateful to Dr. McClure, President Dillard and
Shaw University for this opportunity," Lynch said. "Shaw has always been home for me, and to continue serving this department in a larger role means a lot. I take pride in telling the stories of our student-athletes, coaches and programs, and I am excited to keep helping move Shaw Athletics forward both in communications and operations."
Lynch first joined the department as an athletic communications assistant, working under former sports information directors
Jolisa Williams and Sherri Fillingham. He later led the initial design and launch of Shaw Athletics' website with SIDEARM Sports in the fall of 2022.
In 2023, Lynch received the prestigious John Holley CIAA Sports Information Director of the Year Award in just his second year in the position. During the 2022-23 academic year, he was also among a select group of recipients awarded grants to attend the 2023 College Sports Communicators Convention. He later earned the 2024 D2SIDA USCUnite Attendee Grant and participated in the 2025-26 College Sports Communicators Inclusion Cohort.
In addition to his work at Shaw, Lynch has gained experience serving on the media staffs for multiple NCAA Division I men's and women's basketball tournaments, ACC basketball, softball and baseball tournaments, the NCAA Division II Baseball Championship, and in the professional ranks with the former Milwaukee Brewers affiliate, the Carolina Mudcats. He also serves on the media staff for the world-renowned John Wall Holiday Invitational.
A member of College Sports Communicators, Lynch votes in the D2SIDA Men's Basketball Regional Rankings. He was recently named CIAA-SIDA President after serving as the organization's vice president for the previous three years. He has also served on the CIAA women's tennis and football championship committees and currently serves on the CIAA Management Council.
A Bear at heart, Lynch attended
Shaw University and majored in recreation management. While at Shaw, he was a member of the Platinum Sound Marching Band and served as section leader of the drumline during his final season.
A native of Elizabethtown, North Carolina, Lynch attended East Bladen High School. He and his wife, Tanaya, reside in Wake County with their son, Adonis.
