RALEIGH, N.C. — Shaw University Athletics has announced the appointment of Yazmyn Brown as Coordinator of Compliance. 

Brown joins the Bears with a strong background in collegiate athletics, student-athlete development and compliance education. In her role, she will assist with the administration and oversight of NCAA, CIAA and institutional compliance operations while working closely with coaches, student-athletes and campus partners to support the academic and athletic success of Shaw University's student-athletes.

"We are excited to welcome Yazmyn to the Shaw Athletics family," said Interim Director of Athletics Dr. Randy McClure. "Her passion for student-athlete success, combined with her educational background and firsthand experience as a collegiate student-athlete, makes her a valuable addition to our department. We look forward to the positive impact she will have on our compliance efforts and the overall student-athlete experience."

A former collegiate softball student-athlete, Brown competed for three seasons at Trinity Baptist College, now known as Trinity College of Florida, in Jacksonville, Florida. During her playing career, she earned All-Academic Team honors while developing a passion for supporting student-athletes both on and off the field.

Brown earned a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies from Trinity Baptist College before continuing her education at Florida State University, where she received a Master of Science in Sport Management.

Her academic and athletic experiences helped shape her commitment to compliance education, student-athlete development and fostering a positive collegiate athletics environment.

"I look forward to serving our student-athletes, coaches and staff while helping promote a culture of integrity, accountability and excellence. I'm excited to contribute to the continued success of Shaw Athletics."

Outside of her professional responsibilities, Brown enjoys spending time with family and friends, attending sporting events and following her favorite teams. A passionate Jacksonville Jaguars fan, she can often be found cheering on the Jaguars during football season. She also enjoys fishing and spending time outdoors.
