Raleigh, NC – Shaw University is pleased to announce the appointment of Tabitha Monroe as the Associate Athletic Director for Compliance and Senior Woman Administrator (SWA). Monroe brings a wealth of experience in athletic administration, compliance, and student-athlete development, making her an outstanding addition to the Bears' leadership team.

In this new role, Monroe will oversee compliance, student-athlete welfare, and the implementation of key initiatives aimed at enhancing the university's athletic programs. As SWA, she will serve as an advocate for gender equity and diversity within the department, ensuring a positive experience for all student-athletes. Additionally, Monroe will serve as the advisor for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), providing support and guidance to student-athletes in their leadership roles and helping to foster a positive, inclusive environment within the athletic community.

"We are excited to promote Tabitha," said George Knox, Shaw University's Director of Athletics. "Her leadership, experience, and passion for student-athlete success will be invaluable as we continue to build a strong, competitive, and inclusive athletic department."

Monroe, who is in her fourth season at Shaw, previously served as the Special Administrative Assistant to the Athletic Director, a role she assumed in 2021. During her time in that position, she managed the athletic office, oversaw daily operations, and played a key role in handling the department's budget, coordinating travel for teams, assisting with compliance matters, and serving as Director of Operations for all sports.

A Jacksonboro, S.C., native, Monroe joined Shaw's athletic staff in 2020 as a Graduate Assistant for the men's basketball program while pursuing her master's degree. Her experience in team management, player development, and game preparation during her time as a Graduate Assistant proved invaluable.

Monroe began her career in collegiate athletics in 2018 as the Head Manager for the South Carolina State University men's basketball program. From 2018 to 2020, she was responsible for managing daily operations, including team logistics, equipment, and facility management.

Monroe holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science Pre-Law with a minor in Spanish from South Carolina State University and a Master of Arts in Christian Leadership from Shaw University, which she completed in January 2024.
