WILMINGTON, DE --The Shaw men's basketball team scored 30 points off of turnovers, but fell 76-68 to the Lincoln (PA) Lions on the road Saturday.
The Bears (7-8, 2-1) had three players score in double figures, led by Trent McIntyre, who had 21 points, five assists and four steals. Elijah Scranton tacked on 14 points, six rebounds and two steals off the bench and Dee Barnes chipped in as well with 11 points and four steals.
The Shaw defense was a problem in Saturday's game, forcing 22 Lincoln (PA) turnovers while committing 16. Those takeaways turned into 30 points on the offensive end of the floor. Barnes' four steals led the way individually for the Bears.
How It Happened
After falling behind 19-7, Shaw went on a 7-0 run with 11:50 left in the first half to narrow its deficit to 19-14. The Bears continued to close the gap, cutting the Lincoln (PA) lead to 32-28 by the end of the first half.
Lincoln (PA) kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 46-40 advantage before Shaw went on a 9-0 run, finished off by Dreveon Scott's layup, to seize a 49-46 lead with 10:15 to go in the contest. Lincoln (PA) re-asserted control, outscoring the Bears 30-19 the rest of the way to hand Shaw the 76-68 loss. Shaw took care of business in the paint, recording 28 of its 40 points in the lane.
