AUGUSTA, Ga. --Trent McIntyre notched a double-double with 25 points and 12 rebounds, but the Shaw men's basketball team fell to the 71-69 on the road Saturday.
The Bears (4-4) had three players score in double figures, led by McIntyre, who had a double-double with 25 points and 12 rebounds. Dreveon Scott added 13 points and two steals and Dee Barnes chipped in as well with 12 points.
McIntyre pulled down four offensive rebounds to pace the Shaw offense which grabbed 13 boards and turned them into eight second chance points.
The Shaw defense held shooters to only 34.3 percent from the field. The Bears also kept Quinnton Jackson to 2-of-14 shooting and nine points in the game.
How It Happened
Shaw struggled out of the gate, falling behind 41-30 heading into halftime.
Shaw narrowed its deficit to 46-39 before going on a 7-0 run, finished off by Scott's three, to even the score at 46 all with 13:33 to go in the contest. The Bears could not turn their rally into a victory, as the outscored them 25-23 the rest of the way to hand Shaw the 71-69 loss. Shaw capitalized on 10 turnovers in the period, collecting 11 points off those turnovers.
