RALEIGH, NC - The Shaw University softball team heads to Elizabeth City, NC for the 2023 CIAA softball round up held March 23 through March 25. All contest will be played at the South Park Sports Complex (110 Capital Trace Elizabeth City, NC 27909)

The Lady Bears (0-9) are returning to the diamond for the first time since February 26 after competing in the NFCA Leadoff Classic. The previous three contest were postponed due to inclement weather and health and safety protocols. 

So far this season, Shaw is led by Regina DeDecker who tops the Lady Bears in multiple categories. The senior from Carbondale, IL holds a .333 average at the plate collecting 8 hits along with four RBI's. She is also tied for a team low strikeouts with only three. Krystal Walker follows with five hits and a .250 average with a team leading .400 OB%. Freshman Ayania Williams has tallied a second best three RBI's.

On defense, DeDecker has been impressive with 20 putouts and zero errors. Newcomer D'Amani Gadson leads the Lady Bears in the circle with 18 strikeouts in 24.2 innings pitched. Syhia Marks has a 5.25 ERA wih 8 strikeouts in 24.0 innings pitched. 

Shaw is scheduled to face all of the teams from the CIAA Southern Division. The complete schedule is listed below.
