ORANGEBURG, S.C. — Shaw University softball saw its 2026 season come to an end Thursday night after suffering a pair of losses in the opening rounds of the CIAA Softball Championship.
In game one, the Lady Bears dropped a 14-5 decision to Bluefield State before falling to Lincoln (Pa.) 16-8 later in the evening.
Against Bluefield State, Shaw collected eight hits, highlighted by a two-run home run from Cyndia Dobbins. Imari Jordan added a two-RBI performance, while Hailey Stanley and Jordan Booker each finished with two hits.
Bluefield State used a fast start offensively and capitalized on key scoring opportunities throughout the contest to secure the win.
In the second game of the night, Shaw battled offensively but could not slow down Lincoln's explosive attack in a 16-8 setback. Lincoln totaled 20 hits in the contest while Shaw answered with 12 hits of its own.
The Lady Bears were led at the plate by Sierra McGee, Hailey Stanley and Jordan Booker, while Shaw continued to fight offensively throughout the nightcap.
Shaw concludes the 2026 campaign after advancing to the CIAA Softball Championship tournament in Orangeburg, South Carolina for the third consecutive season.
