RALEIGH, NC --The Shaw University men's basketball team kept Saint Augustine's to just 18.8 percent from beyond the arc in a 3-for-16 shooting performance but it was key tip in from Dreveon Scott that sent the Bears on the way to a 62-60 victory against the Falcons on the road Wednesday.
Scott led the Bears (6-5, 13-10) with 16 points. Shyne Saigo also tacked on nine points and nine rebounds and Doriuntas Barnes chipped in as well with four points and three steals.
Led by Saigo's four offensive rebounds, Shaw did a great job crashing the offensive glass, pulling down 14 boards that resulted in eight second chance points including the final two to get the win.
The Shaw defense was effective at taking away the basketball in Wednesday's game, forcing 14 Saint Augustine's turnovers. Those takeaways turned into 18 points on the other end of the floor. Barnes' three steals led the way individually for the Bears.
How It Happened

Shaw relied on its three-point shooting in the period, knocking down five shots to account for 15 of its 32 points.

Quotes
"There is no better way to win a rival game than at the buzzer. Both teams played extremely hard. Both teams made plays. We just happened to make that last one. It was an incredible offensive rebound by Dreveon. It seemed like he was head above heels over everybody. It was a big shot. I was happy that it happened for him. I was so proud of this team tonight for their hustle." - Shaw Head Coach Bobby Collins
"The coach told me to crash, but that is just common sense. Game tied up, last shot. That was pretty much it," - Shaw guard Dreveon Scott
