Lady Bears Fall to Palm Beach Atlantic in Road Trip Finale

BOCA RATON, FL --The Shaw women's basketball team got a 17-point performance from the bench, but fell 76-46 to the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish at de Hoernle Sports & Cultural Center Tuesday.

The Lady Bears (6-5) had two players score in double figures, led by Zaniyyah Ross-Barnes, who had 13 points and two blocks. Alexis Radcliff tacked on 12 points and three steals and Naomi Winston-Ellis added two points, six rebounds and three steals.

Led by Elisha Quinn's two offensive rebounds, Shaw did a great job crashing the offensive glass, pulling down 10 boards that resulted in nine second chance points.

Shaw forced 21 Palm Beach Atlantic turnovers while committing 17 themselves in Tuesday's game. The Lady Bears turned those takeaways into 11 points on the other end of the floor. Radcliff's three steals led the way for Shaw.

How It Happened

Shaw struggled out of the gate, falling behind 20-10 at the end of the first quarter.

The Bears continued to lose ground in the second quarter and faced a 39-21 halftime deficit.

Shaw's deficit continued to grow after halftime, and the Lady Bears faced a 60-32 disadvantage heading to the fourth quarter. Shaw played well near the basket, scoring six of its 11 points in the paint.

Palm Beach Atlantic kept widening its lead in the fourth, constructing a 66-34 advantage before Shaw went on a 6-0 run, finished off by Radcliff's layup, to shrink the deficit to 66-40 with 4:55 to go in the contest. Palm Beach Atlantic responded and outscored the Bears the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 76-46. Shaw took advantage of its opportunities in the post, scoring eight of its 14 points in the paint.
