Box Score 2 PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Shaw men's soccer team concluded its season at the USCAA Division I National Championship Tournament on Saturday, falling to Bryant & Stratton Rochester 3-1 at the Montour Junction Sports Complex.
Despite the loss, the season was a success for the Bears, who qualified as a No. 4 seed out of six teams in the tournament. They finished 9-10-1 overall but the nine wins are a season high for the emerging program, which started in 2017.
The Bears belonged on the national stage even though they dropped two games in pool play. They barely lost to Lyon College 2-1 on Friday when an offsides call erased the game-tying goal in the final seconds.
Trailing 2-0 in the second half, Shaw pulled within one on
Nathan Skeete's goal, setting up the climatic finish.
Hugo Luque was credited with the assist.
Skeete also scored against Bryant & Stratton. The Bears trailed 3-0 at halftime before Skeete put his team on the scoreboard.
