Lady Bears Reach USCAA National Championship Final

Box Score PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Shaw women's soccer team advanced to the USCAA Small College Division I National Championship Game after defeating Maine-Fort Kent 3-0 at the Montour Junction Sports Complex on Friday.

The Lady Bears (15-4-1 overall) will face two-time defending champion Bryant & Stratton-Syracuse for the national title on Sunday, Nov. 19, at Highmark Stadium at 6 p.m. Bryant & Stratton beat Carlow 4-0 in the other semifinal.

Sina Kummerow of Shaw scored the first goal for a 1-0 halftime lead. Goals by Leila Soto and Victoria Hines in the second half sealed the win for the Lady Bears. Ellie MacDonald assisted on Hines' goal.

The title game is a rematch of a regular season meeting between the two teams. It was a tight contest before Bryant & Stratton pulled out the 1-0 win in Syracuse, N.Y., on Oct. 1. The Lady Bears will look to even the score and take home the championship trophy on Sunday.
