RALEIGH, NC— Shaw University women's soccer secured its first victory of the 2026 season with a 1-0 shutout of Lincoln University (Pa.) at Wakestone Park in Knightdale Monday afternoon.
After more than 82 minutes of scoreless action, Savanah Echeverria delivered the game-winner for the Lady Bears at the 82:16 mark, finishing an assist from Damilola Onafowokan to give Shaw the late advantage. The goal was Echeverria's lone score on two shots on goal, while Onafowokan paced Shaw with three shots and recorded the assist.
Goalkeeper Alexis Stephens made the lead stand, recording three saves over 90 minutes to earn the clean sheet. Lincoln finished with a 10-5 advantage in shots, but the Lady Bears placed three of their five attempts on goal and capitalized when it mattered most.
With the victory, Shaw improves to 1-2 on the season. Shaw is back in action Wednesday as they host Ferrum at Durham County Memorial Stadium.
