RALEIGH, NC – The Shaw University men's soccer team begins what it hopes will be a successful run towards a national title this weekend.
The Bears will face Lyon College in pool play on Friday, Nov. 17, at 10 a.m. in the USCAA Small College National Championship Division I Tournament. The site of the four-day tournament is the Montour Junction Sports Complex in Pittsburgh, Pa.
Shaw is one of six teams competing in the national tournament, which started Thursday, Nov. 16. Pool A includes No. 4 seed Shaw, No. 5 seed Lyon and top seed Bryant & Stratton Rochester. Pool B consists of No. 2 seed Bryant & Stratton Syracuse, No. 3 seed Maine Fort Kent and No. 6 seed Atlantis University.
The Bears received a first-day bye on Thursday. After facing Lyon on Friday, Shaw will play Bryant & Stratton Rochester on Saturday, Nov. 18, at 10 a.m.
The top team in pool A and pool B will meet for the championship on Sunday, Nov. 19, at 2 p.m. at Highmark Stadium.
