RALEIGH, NC – The Shaw University women's soccer program will host the inaugural Division II Independent Championship Tournament this weekend at Durham County Memorial Stadium in Durham, N.C.
Four teams, including Shaw, will compete in the two-day women's soccer tournament. On Saturday, Nov. 11, Bluefield State faces Edward Waters in the opener at 11 a.m. followed by the Shaw-Virginia State contest at 1:30 p.m.
On Sunday, Nov. 12, the losing teams on Saturday will play in the consolation game at 11 a.m. The championship game featuring Saturday's winning teams is set to start afterward at 1:30 p.m.
The Lady Bears are 12-4-1 overall with victories over Virginia State (twice), Bluefield State (twice) and Edward Waters (once). The 12 wins tie a season high for the Lady Bears program, which started in 2017.
Bluefield State enters the tournament at 4-11-1 overall. Virginia State is 2-11-2 in its first season and Edward Waters is 8-5-2.
