Lady Bears Shutout Against UNCP

Raleigh. NC - The Shaw University Lady Bears soccer team was doubled up in total shots which showed on the scoreboard as UNCP came away with a 2-0 win Monday, inside Durham County Memorial Stadium.

THE BASICS 

The Lady Bears see their record fall to 0-4-0 with the defeat while the Braves improve to 2-1 in 2022. 

 

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE

The visitors were the aggressors from the opening kick outshooting the Lady Bears 24-12 in total shots while limiting Shaw to just four in the opening half. Shaw was credited with five saves on the day just edging UNCP who had four. 

 

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Braves cashed in early in the contest on an attack set which allowed Mercy Bell to find the back of the net just 16 minutes into the match. Neither team beat the net minders the remainder of the half as the match stayed at 1-0 at halftime. The final dagger came just 10 minutes before the final whistle as Anna Grossheim scored an unassisted goal just inside the box making the final score 2-0. 

 

UP NEXT

The Lady Bears are back in action after a quick break Wednesday, September 7 as Shaw hosts the Trojan from the University of Mt. Olive. Kickoff is slated for 6 PM inside Durham County Memorial Stadium.
