Box Score Mt. Olive, NC - A slow start by the Shaw University men's soccer team resulted in a disappointing 5-0 defeat against the University of Mt.Olive Wednesday evening at Amon Field in Mt. Olive, NC.
Shaw (2-4-0) only managed four total shots for the entire match compared to 11 by UMO (4-3-0). None of the Bears shots were credited on goal attempts. The Bears were credited with seven corner kicks while limiting UMO to just four.
In a match that was physical from the opening whistle, the Trojans were called for 20 fouls while Shaw collected 12 fouls also earning the match's lone card in the first half.
Lukas Dudziak was credited with the loss allowing four goals on five shots. He was relieved by Marlon Cruz who allowed one goal in just over eight minutes of action.
The Trojans built a 2-0 lead with goals in the 17th and 34th minutes. UMO found the back of the net three more times after the break with goals in the 63rd, 76th, and 82nd minutes to cruise to the shutout 5-0 victory.
Shaw returns to the pitch on September 21 as they travel to Lincoln Memorial. First touch is scheduled for 3:30 PM.
