Raleigh, NC - The Shaw University Lady Bears traveled to Mt.Olive to face a stout UMO Trojans squad who came away with the Sunday sweep by the scores of 19-6 in game one and 15-0 in the second contest. 

The Lady Bears fall to 0-9 on the season while the Trojans jumped to 19-5 overall.

During game one, UMO blitzed Shaw from the opening pitch crossing the plate six times in the bottom of the first followed by 13 runs in the following inning. The Lady Bears finally settled in to score runs in each of the final three innings including three in the fourth inning. Destiny Beckham and Regina DeDecker were both credited with two hits each including a triple by DeDecker who was also credited with three RBIs. Brianna Smith had the only other hit for the Lady Bears in the first contest. 

The second contest was all Trojans as five errors from Shaw led to a quick 9-0 hole after one complete. UMO tacked on 6 more runs in the third to cap off the scoring for the game. Shaw collected four hits during the matchup with Beckham, DeDecker, Nataya Truitt all collecting singles while Syhia Marks earned a triple.

Shaw returns to action with another road trip to Bluefield State University on Thursday, March, 17. Game one is scheduled for 1 p.m. followed by game two at 3 p.m.
