Lady Bears Drop 1-0 Thriller to Barton

Wilson, NC – The Shaw University women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 result to the Barton Bulldogs on Wednesday afternoon in Wilson, NC at the Bulldog Athletic Complex.  

 

Shaw's record falls to 2-6 on the season while Barton improves to 4-2-1 overall.

 

How It Happened

  • Both teams battled to a 0-0 tie through the first half of action with Barton holding a slim margin in shots at 5-4.
  • The lone goal of the evening came in the 65th minute as Gianna Ferigne collected the ball off a save and found the back of the net.
  • The Bears pushed the Bulldogs to the last minute of regulation with Shaw having a chance to tie the match but sailing a shot high in the 89:20 mark.

  • Barton outshot Shaw 17-10 in total shots with four of those shots be on goal for the Lady Bears.
  • Corner kick chances were slim for both squads as five total were awarded with Shaw earning one in each half.
