Lady Bears Fall to UNC Pembroke After Early Strikes

Pembroke, NC – The Shaw University women's soccer team fell behind early and couldn't recover dropping a road contest to UNC Pembroke 3-0 Monday evening inside Lumbee River EMC Stadium in Pembroke, NC.

 

Shaw's record now sits at 2-5 overall on the season while UNCP improves to 5-3.

  • The Braves outshot the Bears 25-8 in total shots.  
  • Shaw was limited to just two corner kick chances on the evening with one coming in each half compared to eight for UNCP.
  • In a physical matchup, UNCP was credited with 12 fouls while the Lady Bears collected 10.

How It Happened

  • The Braves scored in record fashion finding the back of the net just 18 seconds into the match with a goal from Rilee Seering.
  • Seering kept the UNCP offensive pressure on as she scored her second goal of the evening and her seventh of the season just eight minutes later making the score 2-0.
  • The visitors scored their third and final goal at the 10:35 mark with a goal from Anna Grossheim with the assist coming from Seering who had a hand in all three UNCP goals.
