Box Score Hartsville, SC – Two extra periods weren't enough for either team to find the winning goal which resulted in a hard-fought 1-1 tie between the Shaw University Bears and the Coker University Cobras Wednesday afternoon in Hartsville, SC.
Shaw's record now sits at 3-8-1 overall while the Cobras are now 10-3-1 on the season.
The Cobras struck first finding the back of the net in the 17th minute as Jacques Fokam-Sandeu took a pass from Lukas Berntsson in front of the net putting Coker ahead 1-0. Neither team scored the rest of the way leaving the score 1-0 at the break.
The equalizer came in the 79th minute as Andrew Camilo scored an unassisted goal tying the score at 1-1. Both teams put together chances in the last 10 minutes of regulation and the following 20 minutes of extra time but were unable to convert any of those chances sending both teams to their first draw of the season.
Coker outshot Shaw on the match 28-11 with all of the Bears shots coming in the second period. In a very aggressive contest, Shaw was credited with 13 fouls compared to 10 for Coker. Keeper Juan Ramirez tallied 9 saves on the match
Shaw returns to the pitch with a road match at Belmont Abbey Saturday, October 23. Kickoff is slated for 7:00 p.m.
