LADY BEARS DROP 1-0 BOUT TO BARTON

RALEIGH, N.C. – The Shaw University women's soccer team fell in their season finale 1-0 to Barton College in a hard-fought match Tuesday, Nov. 5 at the Wake Competition Center.

 

In a physical match from the opening whistle, both teams battled for position and shots on goal setting the pace for a defensive battle. Barton broke through in the 33rd minute to go ahead 1-0 on a crossing attempt that found the back corner of the net.

 

The goal from the Bulldogs proved to be the game-winner but not before adding to the physical play from the first half. A total of 24 fouls were called while each team had one player issued a yellow card.

 

The Lady Bears were outshot 9-1 on the contest with senior Teffie Ann-Browne (Kingstown, St. Vincent) being credited with the lone shot attempt for Shaw in her final match as a Lady Bear. Senior keeper Caylie Hartman (Commerce City, CO) collected three saves also in her last match for the garnet and white.

 

Shaw ends the 2019 season 7-9 overall.
