RALEIGH, N.C. – The Shaw University women's soccer team saw its hopes at continuing its season long winning streak vanish with a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Tusculum College Wednesday evening in Greenville, Tenn.

Shaw's record drops to 4-6 on the season. Tusculum improves to 5-6 overall winning their second straight match.

The first half was an offensive struggle for the Lady Bears as they were able to only apply one shot during the opening stanza. While the Pioneers were credited with six shots during the first half, Tusculum's goal during the first half came on an awarded penalty kick after a foul was called in the box in the 28'. TC's Yvette Raaijen converted the kick giving the Pioneer's the 1-0 lead at the break.

After a very physical first half which saw 20 fouls called between both squads, the Lady Bears were able to produce a more Shaw-like effort on offense, collecting seven shots while only producing one corner kick. Tusculum cashed in on a great through ball in the 68' pushing their lead to 2-0 and the final two goal deficit.

Shaw returns to action Saturday, Oct. 12 as they travel to Queens (N.C.) for a 4 p.m. kickoff.
