LADY BEARS DROP 3-0 DECISION AT MOUNT OLIVE IN WOMEN'S SOCCER

MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. -  The Shaw University women's soccer team fell by a final score of 3-0 at the University of Mount Olive on Monday at Amon Field.

 

The loss drops the Lady Bears to 2-7 on the season while the Trojans improve to 2-7 overall.

 

UMO started their offensive attack early, scoring the game's first goal from Niza Vera at the 29th minute to give the Trojans a 1-0 lead over the Lady Bears. UMO held a 35-5 advantage in shots and 15-4 frame in shots on goal for the match. The Trojans scored two more goals in the second half to seal the win over Shaw.

 

Freshman Alana Naverrette (Sun City, CA) led Shaw with two shots and two on goal. Defensively, Shianne Duplantis (West Palm Beach, FL) recorded nine saves in the loss.

 

The Lady Bears will look ahead to a road match at North Greenville on Wednesday, Oct. 4.
