Junior guard Larry Richardson, II (Garner, NC) scored his 1,000TH point, becoming the second player under head coach Joel Hopkins and third player in program history to eclipse the milestone.

The victory snapped a two-game losing skid for the Bears (10-14, 7-5 CIAA), while Livingstone falls to 7-11 on the year and 4-8 in the league standings.

Richardson, II scored the game's first basket to give the Bears the early 2-0 lead. Both teams exchanged points over the next eight possessions until the Blue Bears built a two-point lead at the 11:37 mark.

LC would lead over the next three minutes until the Bears clawed their way back to tie the contest a 22-all with 6:25 left in the first half but the Blue Bears outscored Shaw 11-9 to lead 33-31 going into the locker room.

Both teams shot at least 40-percent from the field in the first half, Eric Dubose led all scorers with nine points, following Richardson, II with eight points.

In the second half, Shaw built a 9-6 run for the games seventh tie on the afternoon, including a 3-pointer by Richardson, II which put him in the 1,000 point club at the 18:07 mark.

It would be two more ties in the contest before the Bears would take the lead for good with 8:21 left in regulation. LC got within one-point twice but that would be the closest they would get for the remainder of the contest as the Bears turned in a nine-point lead – their largest lead of the game to eventually secure the victory.
