Box Score 2 RALEIGH, NC – The Shaw University Softball team played Saint Augustine's University in a conference double-header match-up on Saturday April 18. The Lady Bears dropped the pair to cross-town rivals at Worthdale Park with a 5-0 defeat in the first game and 6-0 lost in game 2.
With the two loses Shaw falls to 6-24 overall and 2-4 in the CIAA Southern Division standings.
The first two innings of game 1 was quiet for both teams. At the bottom of the third innging the Lady Falcons opened up the scoring with two runs. Another run was added in the fourth inning and two more in the bottom of the fifth. The Lady falcons had a strong 5-0 lead at the top of the sixth inning. Saint Augustine's pitcher managed to hold off the Lady Bears in the last two innings. The game ended with a final score of 5-0 in Saint Augustine's favor.
Saint Augustine's started the second game off by scoring two runs in the bottom of the first. They added one more in the second inning and three in the third inning. The Lady Bears were held off during the remaining four innings and would not score. The final score of game was 6-0. Shai Bease had two hits and Jamel Manley had one hit for Shaw in the second game.
The Lady Bears will visit Fayetteville State in a double-header in Fayetteville, NC on Saturday April 25. The games are set to start at at 1and 3 PM.
