Box Score 2 Raleigh, NC – The Shaw University softball team played Barton in a double-header at Worthdale Park on Monday afternoon. The Lady Bears dropped both games with final scores of 3-0 and 7-4 bringing their overall record to 4-22 for the season.
Barton held the Lady Bears to a no-hitter game in the seven inning match. The Bulldogs scored two runs in the second inning to take the lead of the game. Shaw managed to hold them off until the forth top of the forth inning when the Bulldogs scored another run. The game ended in the top of the seventh inning with a score of 3-0 for the Barton Bulldogs.
The Lady Bears started the second game of the double-header strong. Shaw took advantage early in the first inning on an error by the Bulldogs advancing Brittany Kline home. In the third inning Kline scored again when Shanice Anderson singled up the middle picking up a RBI. At the start of the fourth inning Shaw was up by a score of 2-0 over Barton College.
Barton took the lead by scoring one run in the fourth inning and scored four runs in the fifth inning bring the score to 5-2. The Lady Bears responded in the bottom of the sixth inning with two runs of their own. Chakiryan Jackson and Shanice Anderson both picked up one RBI each from brining home Joi Davis and Briana Bease, respectively. The two runs by Shaw University would not be enough as Barton added two more runs to their tally in the sixth and seventh innings. The game ended with the final score of 7-4 in Barton's favor.
The Lady Bears are back in action on April 14 for their last home double-header and senior day at Worthdale Park. They will face Livingstone College at 1 PM with the second game to follow at 3 PM.
