Raleigh, NC – The Shaw University Softball team completed the final day of the CIAA Round-up on Sunday, finishing 1-2 for the day.  The Lady Bears ended the Round-up weekend with a 3-3 record.

The Lady Bears dropped a tough 7-6 decision against Virginia Union for their first game of the day. Shanice Anderson paced the Lady Bears with 2 RBI and two hits. Reene Holmes, Brittany Kline, Morgan Jones and Briana Bease all had one RBI each. The first inning the Lady Bears were only able to score one run in, while the Lady Panthers of Virginia Union scored two. Shaw would come back in the second inning with four RBI. Virginia Union scored one run in the bottom of the third to tie the game 5-5.  The Lady Bears scored one run in the bottom of the fifth giving them a one-run lead. The game went into the seventh inning, with both schools scoring one run each.  

In the second game the Lady Bears defeated Bowie State University 6-4. Chakiryn Jackson had 2 RBIs for the game. Renee Holmes, Shanice Anderson, Ladazia Burris, and Shai Bease accumulated one RBI each for the game. Shaw took an early 3-0 lead at the bottom of the third inning and sustained their lead throughout the rest of the game.

Shaw lost the final game of the CIAA Round-Up in a hard fought 10-9 contest against Chowan University. Holmes had 3 RBIs for the Lady Bears with Shai Bease and Tiffany Brooks picking up two apiece.  Morgan Jones and Shanice Anderson added a RBI to the tally. The Lady Bears could not hold off Chowan who scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth to take the lead.
