Box Score 3 Raleigh, NC - The Shaw University softball team began CIAA crossover play with a 2-1 record at the CIAA Round-Up on Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Bears dropped a game to Virginia State University Saturday afternoon. The tough 2-0 decision ending in seven innings was the first game of the day for the Lady Bears. Shaw rebounded from the setback and went on to hammered Lincoln University (PA) 21-3 and defeated Elizabeth City State University 9-1. Shaw improves to 3-12 on the season and 2-1 in conference play.
Renee Holmes led the Lady Bears in hits with eight hits over the three games as well as 2 RBI. Shanice Anderson recorded seven hits and four RBI. Chakiryn Jackson tallied up six hits and six RBI, while Kayla LaFrades hit three balls and had 6 RBI.
Tiffany Brooks and Jamel Manley accumulated three RBI a piece. Shai Bease chipped in 2 RBI over the day's three games. Brittany Kline, Morgan Jones and Briana Bease each added in an RBI on the day.
The Lady Bears return to action Sunday, the final day of the conference round-up, versus Chowan University at 11:30 AM, Bowie State at 1:30 PM, and wrap-up the round-up weekend against Virginia Union University at 4 PM.
