INSTITUTE, WEST VIRGINIA- The Shaw University men's basketball team recorded their first victory of the 2014-2015 season against West Virginia State by the score of 74-66. Five Shaw players impressively posted double-figures with Koron Reed leading the Bears with 15 points and Larry Richardson scoring 14 points.

Joe Reid recorded his first double-double of the season, scoring 11 points and pulling down 11 rebounds. Joining Reed, Reid and Richardson in scoring double figures were Jamar Cooper who scored 12 points and Alibaba Odd who scored 11 points.

The Bears clearly established a firm presence in the first half leading the competition going into halftime with a score of 44-33. The Yellow Jackets managed to tie the game twice in the second half, pressuring the Bears to commit 22 turnovers,  but both times was not able to take the lead.

For the Bears next competition, they will be traveling to Virginia Union University on Saturday, November 22^nd; the competition begins at 5:00 pm.
