Shaw Softball Ends Season With 8-1 Loss to Virginia State

Box Score

(Raleigh, NC) -   A day after a heartbreaking 5-4 loss to Virginia State, Shaw had its chance for revenge as it met the Lady Trojans for a second time in 24 hours.  But vengeance wasn't to be and the Lady Bears lost 8-1, killing their championship hopes and ending their 2011 campaign.

The Lady Bears managed only two hits off Lady Trojan pitching, and collected their only run when VSU committed three straight errors, allowing Nikitta Burroughs to score.

Shaw got in trouble early when the Lady Trojans scored three runs before tallying their first out.  In all, they scored four in the first, and added two each in the third and fourth innings.

Monica Grimmage and Daniela Archibold each collected a hit for the Lady Bears, with Grimmage driving in Burroughs for an RBI.

Shaw finishes its season 14-45, 11-7 in the conference.
