Ferrum, Va. – Shaw University women's soccer dropped its 2025 season opener on the road Thursday night, falling 4-0 to Ferrum College at Penn-Roediger Field.
.The Panthers struck early, with Breanna Herlihy putting the hosts on the board in the 8th minute. Ferrum extended the lead in the 30th minute when Macy Taylor found the back of the net off an assist from Herlihy. Taylor would later add her second goal of the match in the 62nd minute, and Peyton Fuleron capped off the scoring in the 71st minute.

Shaw generated offensive opportunities, registering five shots with four of them on goal while earning seven corner kicks throughout the match.
Abigail Harrison,
Ziara Brunson,
Lorena Gonzalez, Michelle Pagoada Velazquez, and
Amelia Segdwick each placed efforts on frame but were denied by Ferrum goalkeeper Ashli Wuss, who tallied four saves to preserve the shutout.

In goal for the Lady Bears, the trio of
Kadence Miller,
Olivia Ankrom, and
Lindsay Poplin combined for four saves across 90 minutes of action.
Shaw returns to action Saturday, September 6th as they travel to Southern Wesleyan for a 1:00 pm kickoff.
