FERRUM, Va. – The Shaw University women's soccer team earned its first result of the 2025 season Wednesday night, playing to a 1-1 draw with Ferrum College at Penn-Roediger Field.
.The Lady Bears (0-1-1) got off to a dream start, striking just 13 seconds into the contest. Forward Abigail Harrison netted her first goal of the year, putting Shaw in front 1-0 before fans had settled into their seats.
Ferrum (1-0-2) regrouped after halftime and found the equalizer in the 56th minute, when Breanna Herlihy scored off a pass from Alondra Vera to tie the match at 1-1.
.Both sides traded chances throughout the second half, with Shaw holding an 18-15 edge in shots and an 11-6 advantage in shots on goal. Goalkeepers Olivia Ankrom and Kadence Miller combined for five saves to help preserve the draw for the Lady Bears.
Harrison led Shaw with five shots, including two on target, while Ziara Brunson and Lorena Gonzalez added multiple attempts on frame to keep constant pressure on the Panthers' back line
Shaw will return to the pitch Friday, September 12 as they face Pfeiffer in a road match scheduled for 1:00 PM.
