Women’s Soccer Rolls Past Pfeiffer 6-0 on the Road

MISENHEIMER, N.C. – The Shaw University women's soccer team turned in a dominant performance Friday afternoon, earning a 6-0 shutout victory over Pfeiffer University at Lefko-Mills Field. With the win, the Lady Bears improve to 1-1-1 on the season, while the Falcons drop to 0-3.

First-Half Breakthrough

Shaw controlled possession early, creating multiple chances before breaking through in the 21st minute. Abigail Harrison netted her second goal of the year off an assist from Lorena Gonzalez, giving the Lady Bears a 1-0 advantage they carried into halftime.

Offensive Explosion in the Second Half

The Lady Bears erupted for five goals after the break to put the game out of reach:

  • Thea Schillaci tallied her first goal of the season in the 55th minute, set up by Harrison.

  • Joseline Becerra added her first collegiate goal at the 77th minute, assisted by Amelia Segdwick.

  • Just two minutes later, Julissa Martinez found the back of the net, with Michelle Pagoada Velazquez providing the helper.

  • In the 81st minute, Annika Huder converted from close range after a feed from Martinez.

  • Johanna Lillja capped the scoring spree in the 84th minute, finishing a pass from Ashley Paredes.

Defensive Stand and Goalkeeping

Shaw's back line limited Pfeiffer to just three total shots and one on goal. Goalkeepers Olivia Ankrom and Kadence Miller combined for the clean sheet, with Ankrom recording the lone save in the first half. The shutout marks the Lady Bears' second of the young season.
