RICHMOND, VA -The Shaw men's basketball team saw their losing streak extend after a slow start after halftime falling 68-51 to the Virginia Union Panthers on the road Monday.
Elijah Scranton stuffed the stat sheet for the Bears (11-15, 6-8) with four points, 10 rebounds and two steals. Trent McIntyre also tacked on nine points and Dee Barnes chipped in as well with 12 points.
The Shaw offense was very productive from three point land, making 10 threes on 21 attempts. Darius Abraham was the most prolific shooter for the Bears, draining three treys in the contest.
How It Happened
After jumping out to an 11-10 advantage, Shaw went on a 6-0 run with 11:52 left in the first half, culminating in a three from Abraham, to increase its lead to 17-10. The Bears then surrendered that lead and entered halftime down 34-31.
Shaw could not pull any closer in the second half, losing by a final of 68-51. Shaw shot well from three-point range in the half, hitting three shots from deep to score nine of its 20 points.
