Lady Bears Volleyball Blows Past Claflin 3-0

RALEIGH, NC --The Shaw volleyball team needed just three sets (25-14, 25-11, 25-10) to take down the Claflin Panthers Tuesday at home at C C Spalding Gymnasium.

The win moved the Lady Bears record to 16-3 overall and 10-0 in CIAA play.

Talia Emmen finished with 12 kills on the day to lead the Bears offense while finishing with a hitting percentage of .5. got 16 digs from Kalia Morris to lead them defensively.

» Shaw never trailed on the way to winning the third set 25-10.
» Talia Emmen had a match-high 12 kills for Shaw.

How It Happened

SET 1 | The Bears grabbed control of the set-one lead at 4-3 and never trailed to win 25-14. Shaw opened up its biggest lead, 11 points, to finish off the set. Shaw also supplemented their offense with three aces in the opening set.

SET 2 | Shaw won the second set 25-11 to swiftly grab a 2-0 lead. The Lady Bears took control of the set lead early on at 5-4 and held the lead the rest of the way. Shaw opened its biggest lead of the stanza, 14 points, to finish off the set, collecting 15 kills in the set. The Shaw offense also got a boost from three aces in the stanza.

SET 3 | Shaw closed the match in a 3-0 sweep after winning the third set. The Lady Bears led from the first point on in the set to secure a 25-10 victory. Shaw ended on a high note, claiming its biggest lead, 15 points, to close out the set.
