MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. (May 14) – Shaw hurdler Symone Wright broke her own school record and set a new personal best in winning the women's 400 hurdles at the Mount Olive Final Qualifier on Sunday.

Wright crossed the finish line in a provisional time of 1:01.96 to win the 400 hurdles. She topped the previous Shaw record of 1:02.40, which Wright set Saturday to place third at the Mount Olive First Chance and Multi Meet. The CIAA 400 hurdles champion, Wright snapped the school record in the event four times this season.

The Shaw senior also won the 100 hurdles on Sunday in a provisional time of 14.14 seconds at the meet, which was held at the Ray McDonald Jr. Sports Complex. On Saturday, Wright recorded a personal best and provisional time of 14.11 to finish third in the 100 hurdles at the Mount Olive First Chance and Multi Meet.
