RALEIGH, NC --The Shaw men's basketball team scored 41 points off of turnovers on the way to a 100-76 victory over the at home Saturday.
The Bears (5-4) had four players score in double figures, led by Shayne Saigo, who had 21 points, seven rebounds and two steals. KJÂ West tacked on 17 points and DJÂ Thomas helped out with 15 points and three steals.
Shaw forced 26 turnovers while committing just nine themselves in Saturday's game. The Bears turned those takeaways into 41 points on the offensive end of the floor. Trent McIntyre's six steals led the way for Shaw.
How It Happened
After jumping out to a 38-28 advantage, Shaw went on an 8-0 run with 5:44 left in the first half, culminating in a bucket from Ahmil Flowers, to increase its lead to 46-28. The Bears then lost some of that lead, but still entered halftime with a 50-36 advantage. Shaw did most of its first half damage in the paint, scoring 36 of its 50 points close to the basket.
Shaw kept its lead intact before going on a 9-0 run to grow the lead to 61-41 with 15:40 to go in the contest. The Bears kept expanding the margin and coasted the rest of the way for the 100-76 win. Shaw took care of business in the paint, recording 26 of its 50 points in the lane.
