Lady Bears Strive For More Success At CIAA Championships Thursday

The Lady Bears Finished Second At The 2022 CIAA Championships
RALEIGH, NC – The Shaw women's cross country team will look to better or duplicate last year's success at the 2023 CIAA Championships, which will be held Thursday, Oct. 26, in Salem, Va. The women's 5K race, which begins at 12 p.m., is free and open to the public at Green Hill Park.

Fans can also follow the meet via live results HERE.

The Lady Bears have re-emerged as league contenders in recent years. They took home the runner-up trophy in 2022 after placing fourth in 2021 and 2019. The 2020 CIAA Championships were canceled due to COVID-19.

A year ago, Shaw placed first and second individually. One of those runners – Thea Schillaci – is back to spark the Lady Bears. Schillaci and teammate Dana Moreno were second and 12th, respectively, to earn All-CIAA honors last year.

This season, Schillaci has already earned CIAA Runner of the Week recognition.
