Sidney Gibbs of Shaw was named CIAA Offensive Back of the Week on Monday after a record-setting day this past weekend.
Gibbs rushed for 183 yards and two touchdowns against Livingstone on Saturday in Salisbury, N.C. In the process, Gibbs became the all-time leading rusher in Shaw football history.
Needing 29 yards heading into the contest, Gibbs produced his best performance of the season and the second-best rushing day of his career. He scored on runs of 60 and 45 yards and averaged a whopping 13.1 yards per carry. He now has 3,186 yards with two games left in the season.
Gibbs and his teammates will host Fayetteville State Saturday, Oct. 28, on Senior Day in Durham, N.C. Kickoff is 1 p.m. at Durham County Stadium.
