EMORY, VA. — Shaw University closed out its 2025 football season with a 55-7 loss at Emory & Henry on Saturday afternoon at Fred Selfe Stadium at Nicewonder Field.
The Bears (2-8 overall, 2-5 CIAA) struck early when freshman quarterback Alexander Marsh connected with Jeffrey McDonald Jr. for a 7-yard touchdown midway through the first quarter to tie the game 7-7. However, Emory & Henry (7-3, 5-3 SAC) responded with 48 unanswered points to pull away for the win.
Marsh finished the day completing 8 of 22 passes for 96 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Reggie King Jr. led all receivers with three catches for 61 yards, including a 42-yard grab that set up Shaw's lone score. McDonald added two receptions for 35 yards and the touchdown.
On the ground, Christian Rutledge rushed 11 times for 21 yards while Fabian Diggs added 24 yards on 10 carries. The Bears were held to 59 rushing yards on 38 attempts.
Defensively, Darry Felix paced Shaw with seven tackles. Craig Morton III added six stops, and Brian Collins recorded an interception, his second of the season. James Boyd tallied a sack and broke up a pass.
The Wasps posted 396 yards of total offense, highlighted by three touchdown passes from Cole Lambert and two scores from running back Jordan Jackson.
Saturday's game marked the final contest of the 2025 season for Shaw, which will now turn its attention to offseason preparations for the 2026 campaign.
