Box Score Raleigh, NC – The Shaw University Lady Bears were outmatched from the tipoff Wednesday evening inside C.C. Spaulding Gymnasium as they fell to the Lincoln University Lions 97-47 in a CIAA Northern Division matchup.
The Lady Bears got off to a slow start as they found themselves behind 9-2 at the first media timeout of the quarter. Things wouldn't get much better as the lack of offense put Shaw behind 25-7 at the end of the 1st quarter.
Not much changed after the quarter break as the Lions continued to pull away building a 20-point lead before eventually leading 46-15 after twenty minutes of action. Lincoln held the Lady Bears to a season-low 13% shooting from the floor during the half.
Shaw's struggles carried over from the first half as the Lady Bears were trailing 55-18 at the under-five media timeout in the third quarter.
The Lady Bears were able to put together their best stretch of offense during the final period scoring 25 points, but it would be too little too late as Lincoln's lead grew to the final score of 97-47.
Inari Jones tallied a season-high 13 points to lead the Lady Bears in scoring. No other Shaw player scored in double figures for the contest. Shaw was limited to just 27% shooting from the floor for the contest including being outrebounded 52-27.
Shaw will close out the regular season Saturday, February 19 as they host the Virginia Union University Panthers for senior day. Tipoff is slated for 2 p.m.
