Box Score Bowie, MD - The Bowie State University Lady Bulldogs connected on 20 shots from beyond the arc which proved to be too much to overcome as the Shaw University Lady Bears fell 84-57 on the road Saturday afternoon inside A.C. Jordan Arena.
Shaw (10-12,7-6 CIAA, 4-4 North) shot just 36% from the floor including an ice cold 1-10 from three-point range. BSU (11-10,9-5 CIAA, 4-4 North) blitzed the nets shooting 46% from the floor while finishing an impressive 20-44 from three-point range for 45%.
The Lady Bears got on the board first with a quick layup from Tanayja London and found themselves trailing for the remainder of the contest including 25-11 after the first quarter and 39-19 at halftime. The onslaught continued as Shaw was held to just 12 points during the third quarter before exploding for 26 points during the final 10 minutes of play but would prove to be just a small punch as the Lady Bears fell by the 84-57 final score.
London led the Shaw offense with 15 points and 7 rebounds. Truth Taylor added 10 points joining London as the only two Lady Bears to finish in double-figure scoring.
Shaw returns to action Wednesday, February 16 as they host Lincoln University (PA). Tipoff is slated for 6 p.m. inside C.C. Spaulding Gymnasium.
