Raleigh, NC – The Shaw University football team will travel west for the second straight week as they face the Davidson Wildcats Saturday night in Davidson, NC. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.,

Saturday's matchup will be the first between the two programs. Shaw has now faced an FCS opponent in four straight seasons.
The Bears enter the contest at 0-1 after falling to Wingate 30-7 last Thursday evening on the road. The Shaw offense lacked constant drives early pinning the Bears in a deep hole early as they trailed 24-0 at the half. A change a quarterback provided a spark as redshirt freshman Christin Peters came off the bench providing a spark while also giving the Bears their lone score on the evening with a 59 yard scamper to make the score 30-7. Peters led Shaw in both rushing and passing on the evening with 55 and 59 yards respectfully.
Shaw's defense locked in during the second half yielding only one score with an early fourth quarter touchdown. Devon Hunt led the Bears defense with nine total tackles. Da'Shawn Wallace finished with seven. Freshman linebacker Kareem Butler came away with the games only turnover with an interception off a tipped pass to go along with two tackles.
Davidson also sits at 0-1 on the early season after falling to VMI 45-24 last Saturday on the road. The Wildcats are the defending PFL Champions having competed in the 2021 spring season where they finished 4-3 and 4-1 in conference play earning a NCAA FCS Playoff berth. Known for their impressive option offense, Davidson outgained their opponent 336-333 with 260 of those yards coming on the ground. The Wildcats are led by fourth year head coach Scott Abell.
