SHAW TO HOST LIVINGSTONE FOR HOMECOMING

RALEIGH, N.C. – Shaw University football will look to snap a two-game losing skid Saturday, when it hosts Livingstone College for Homecoming 2019 at 12 noon at the George Williams Athletic Complex for Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) action.

The game will offer live coverage on the Shaw Bears Sports Network with Corey Hodges and Daimeon Banks providing the games play-by-play commentary and color analyst. Live stats will be available on www.shawbears.com and fans will have the opportunity to follow live tweets on Twitter @ShawBears.

Saturday's contest will mark the 37th meeting between the Bears and Blue Bears. Shaw leads the all-time series against Livingstone 19-14-3 and have won the last two meetings, including a 37-28 victory during the 2018 season in Salisbury, N.C.

Shaw is 2-4 overall, 1-2 in conference play and 0-1 in the Southern Division after its last outing and 25-22 setback at Fayetteville State (Oct. 12). The Bears led 14-3 after the first quarter but the Broncos stole the lead with a 16-14 edge at halftime. In the third quarter, Shaw was outscored 7-2 before firing a late touchdown but a slow start to the second half and a few mistakes which proved to be critical down the stretch left the Bears shorthanded in the setback.

Junior Torrin Campbell (Toledo, OH) has completed 97-of-177 passes for 1,252 yards and 13 touchdowns at the quarterback position while freshman Sidney Gibbs (Black Mountain, NC) has 89 rushes for 428 yards and four touchdowns to lead the running backs as senior Kevonta Moses is the leading receiver with 25 receptions, 324 yards and five touchdowns.

Senior Sadonte Fuller (Atlanta, GA) and junior Jaleel Scroggins (Raleigh, NC) leads the Bears defense with 36 tackles apiece.

As for Livingstone, the Blue Bears are 4-2 overall, 2-2 in CIAA play and 0-1 in the division. LC has also lost its last two games, including a 20-12 setback to Saint Augustine's last weekend. The Blue Bears led at the half, 10-0 but were outscored 20-2 in the second half.

Miles Hayes has appeared in six games for LC at the quarterback position, completing 93-of-165 passes for 1,100 yards and eight touchdowns. Tyrell Baldwin is the team's leading rusher with 39 rushes for 190 yards and a TD while Anthony Faramio has 18 catches and 180 yards to lead the receiving unit.

Defensively, Raheem Coxfield and Gibson Ziah both have 31 total tackles to lead the Blue Bears defense.
