RALEIGH, N.C. – The Shaw University football team will host UNC Pembroke on Saturday, Sept. 17 at 1 p.m. at Durham County Memorial Stadium. The Bears (0-2) are still in search of its first win of the 2016 season, while the Braves (2-0) look to extend its winning-streak to three games against Shaw.
Saturday's contest marks "Youth Football, Cheerleader, High School and Church Day", where youth football and cheerleaders are $1.00 with team jersey or cheer top. All high-school students with proper identification is $5.00 and if fans mention their church, adult members are $5.00 and youth is $1.00.

Last weekend, the Bears suffered 56-7 setback at Wingate. Shaw led in total yards with 172-160 and passing yards 92-72 in the first half but the Bulldogs scored 21 unanswered points in the second half to pull away with the victory. Turnovers led to three of Wingate's touchdowns. Shaw tallied 228 total yards of offense, including 155 yards through the air and 73 yards on the ground.
Despite the loss, freshman linebacker Devon Hunt (Rockingham, NC) was named the CIAA Rookie of the Week after his stellar performance at Wingate. He captured eight solo tackles and six assisted for a total of 14 tackles.
The Braves enter Saturday's action with great momentum after a 2-0 start on the season. UNC Pembroke defeated Fayetteville State, 50-28 and was responsible for more than 500 yards of total offense and its defense was able to limit the Broncos to just 99 passing yards in the outing.
UNC Pembroke leads the all-time series with a 2-1 overall record. The last time these two teams met was in 2015, the Braves defeated Shaw 16-6 in Pembroke.
