RALEIGH, N.C. – Before competing in the 2016 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Basketball Tournament, Shaw University will be traveling to Johnson C. Smith University in a men's and women's basketball doubleheader on Saturday, Feb. 20th at BrayBoy Gymnasium. The women's game will tip-off at 2 p.m., followed by the men's game at approximately 4 p.m.

The Lady Bears (21-6, 13-2 CIAA) will look to conclude the regular season with a win over JCSU after suffering heartbreaking 76-75 loss to Fayetteville State on Senior Day Wednesday. The Lady Broncos hit a jumper with six seconds remaining to seal the deal as the Lady Bears last second shot attempt was no good. Eboni Ross (Columbia, SC) led all players with a double-double, 21 points and 12 rebounds.
JCSU enters Saturday's contest with some momentum after coasting to a 77-59 victory. The Lady Broncos turned in a dominant fourth quarter performance to produce a 20-point lead to win the game. A'Diyah Ussery finished with a game-high 20 points for JCSU.
The Lady Bears won the first meeting back on Jan. 30th with a score of 93-74.
On the men's side, the Bears (12-14, 9-5 CIAA) hot shooting in the first half boosted Shaw to a 95-90 victory over Fayetteville State Wednesday. The Bears shot 50-percent from the floor, while charting a season-best 48-percent from behind the arc. David Madol scored a career-high 28 points, including eight 3-pointers to go along with seven rebounds in the win.
As for the Golden Bulls, JCSU (13-11, 8-7 CIAA) earned a 76-71 victory over Winston-Salem State in their last outing. The Golden Bulls trailed by two-points at the break before using a 6-0 run to tie the contest at 71-all and eventually take lead after two clutch free-throws from Stedmon Lemon with seconds to steal the win. Lemon finished the night with a game-high 23 points.
Shaw won the first meeting against JCSU, 108-93 on Jan. 30th.
